Services Provided – Decarbonisation and Programme Management.
Overview
Greater Manchester has made a public commitment to be net 0 by 2038 and this will involve significant interventions to decarbonize its public a state. In late 2020 BEIS Launched it's public sector decarbonization scheme and GMCA was successfully awarded £78m to invest in decarbonizing over 150 public buildings, including leisure centres, schools and colleges, hospitals, offices, and buildings used by the emergency services.
The Clean Onshore team has been directly involved in the delivery and oversight of the investment fund on behalf of GMCA, providing programme management services and technical assurance capability to ensure the interventions were delivered on time and on budget and provided the predicted energy and carbon savings across the programme.
Outcome
The investment of £78 million will result in saving in excess of 7000 tonnes of CO2 per annum and 121,000 tonnes of CO2 over the lifetime of the assets that have been installed. the scheme in Greater Manchester will also create over 2000 new jobs.
